Being Built Up

“Building Up” in New Orleans post-Katrina, Will on spring break work team

Love is Never Wasted.

It is unmeasurable. Sure there are kids’ books that measure love only to illustrate an abstract truth to a small child who thinks in concrete ways.  Love you to the moon and back. How many parents and kids have expanded topped that with their own saying.

This blog’s name is taken from our family saying. It came about when Love Princess an old familiar saying most of us have heard before especially if you are from the south.  I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.  Love Princess just couldn’t get it right.  It turned in to “love you a bushel and a pickle”.

Love is never wasted.

Even when rejected by someone I gave love to, even when I want to demand a return on my investment, I can not. Must not. Because it was given freely and to demand a return would be like the servant who was forgiven a debt and then demanded payment from one who owed him.

Love is never wasted.

I may never  know how any love I gave affected anyone.

My suspicions are that given love affected me the most. And that gives Him pleasure.

It is building me up to be more like Him.

 Love is never wasted.

Work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:12b-13

You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:5

About chinamom3078

I am a woman who loves Jesus who loved me first. Prone to wander and distraction is common for me as I seek to reflect Him in my daily life. I am wife, mom, and grandma who has lived on 3 continents in 26+ apartments, townhouses, military housing, suburbs and now a 200 plus year old farm house. Preparing and hosting meals for the hundreds who have passsed through our home has been a joy and blessing to our family as we listened and shared over meals, coffee, light nights and Bible studies. A rich life! I have reached the age to feel qualifies to be an ”older woman” (as in Titus) even though I feel far from old and have plenty of room to grow each and everyday. And my joy is to teach Bible studies and help train other women to lead well.

I love this. It’s really a fundamental truth I need to always be reminded of. I want to give love, never expecting anything in return.

    Beautiful post.
