One of the neat things about the love gals’ school is their commitment to fundraising for selected charities.
This year, the art teacher had a very cool idea! The annual school art show was turned into an auction. Sale proceeds of the students’ works were donated to the Four Diamonds Fund. Imagine that! This added an amazing aspect to the show. The kids were very excited not only to show their work but to sell it for a worthy cause!
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Pennies for Patients
The love gals brought home their small cardboard collection boxes. Love Bug asked all of us and some church friends for donations.
You see, she has a friend who has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). http://beautifuladdition.wordpress.com/ This was personal.
Her friend is also our friend along with her family. We have broken bread together, shared My Little Ponies and studied the Word and prayed together. Now we pray from a far for her, for them. She is doing well.
This is the LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.
Saturday I was privileged to help Love Bug, Friend from school and Love Princess raise money for this worthy cause.
The best thing is it was their idea. They only wanted logistical help.
Their dad wondered how much it cost us.
Their payment was lots of sincere thanks and hugs. I’ll take that currency anytime.
Still, fund-raising projects do cost and we will work that out on the next one.
Love Bug was tenacious about keeping me on track. I tend to be a bit random and forgetful.
Not a good combination for executing a plan!
We were at the park for 5 hours. We expected soccer kids and families to be our customers.
We had that plus folks coming to the car show! A blessing!
And the most beautifully perfect day that was the first for weeks. No rain, sun and just right temps.
Nancy and the sweet peas joined us.
We saw the township police horse, the dog and lots of cars and old fire trucks and the Good Humor Man.
There were cars. They walk up and down and in between with the goodies.
Most gave donations.
They sold and collected donations too.
I read my Kindle and talked to Nancy.
and talked to Nancy. Sweet Pea did not nap.
I was so proud of them.
