Our yard and county is greening up! The clusters of white danity flowers offer a picture of peace even when fluttering in the winds.
The front porch is due for some dressing up. The hydrangea bushes are still brown with a few buds beginning to show. The wicker is due for more paint if I can manage time and day without rain or wind. TJ Maxx had great pillows. My husband is just a little tired of retrieving them from the yard after the heavy winds and rains this spring has brought us. But he agrees the porch will be fabulous! And we are thankful, remembering a few years of drought in the past.
The yellow forsythia is gone along with our early tulips.
Boomer even got into the spirit with a daffodil. Doesn’t she look sweet? Now if she would just learn a few manners! I laugh at her every time she runs and thumps across our wood floors.
The lone peony bush is heavy with these beautiful blooms. They adorn our dining room and kitchen tables. Our yard is an “old” one with random single flowering bushes in an odd place bringing beauty. Jim is putting in a fence to keep “The Boomer” in. He is removing and cutting back the overgrown parts. The grape arbor bring character. We have a small patio now and eventually will repair cracked sidewalks and dug up areas were a huge garden had been planted. It was high maintenance and right in the middle! Great for the retired couple with grown grands but not for us.
There was no room for Silly String or baseball or water fights or…
School ends soon. Love Princess just finished a huge end of the year social studies project. Love Bug has Great American Day next week. No worrried…I’ll have pictures! Her brothers and dad will stop off to see her part before they head to NYC for a ballgame. Yankees, of course. Jim grew up in upstate New York.
Plans are being made for fun lessons, swimming, trips and scrapbooking. My mom always said kids needed swing time too for daydreaming and thinking. She had a porch swing on the deck just for that and would not allow anyone to disturb when one of her beloved gandkids were lounging there! A wise woman. Have you planned in thinking day dreaming time?
For Jim and I, our porch time is morning for coffee, Bible reading and prayer. A switch from our bedroom. This morning one of the love gals came in with an arm full of stuffed animals and joined us for moments of peace before her own busy day at school.
I think we ‘ll work on a big list for crossing out like I saw in some blogs last year. Seems like that would be a good way for family planning.
Hope you are enjoying your spring too!
