Easter is a particularly favorite of ours. The celebrated the resurrection of Jesus! With joy and happiness. Maybe that is one reason we are drawn to colored eggs and delightful squeals as each hidden one is found.
A live action parable. We were lost and now we are found.
I just managed to get a dozen eggs boiled, not dyed though on Saturday. The pile became smaller as they were eaten as a quick meal on the way out the door to work by Will and for Sunday breakfast. I had to boil another dozen to color or rather paint this year.
He had done the weekly grocery shopping earlier in the week and bought this new way of
coloring eggs for us “paint on” dye.
It was the best idea ever! Our days before Easter Sunday were packed and we were tired! Though a family meal was planned I had not done any of the prep so I pushed the time back to late afternoon. Turns out that was a good ideas becasue we all napped! It is rare for me to be so unprepared for a holiday. Frankly though I was a bit embarrassed, no one seemed to mind.
The egg paint came in mighty handy! No mess to clean up. Painting gave room for a new kind of artistic expression. Love Princess and Love Bug had a fun time with Nathan painting the dozen plus eggs while Nancy and I wrestled with the pie dough. It just wasn’t cooperating!
Dad and Nathan hid the plastic eggs outside. I hid the candy inside. Will was appalled there was no candy in those plastic eggs. No matter, a new tradition!

We took some of the best family pictures in a long time. And we feasted!
Turns out a holiday with no stress and a nap is a pretty good idea.
